Goth bowling

January 27, 2012 in Clips from the film by Herman Munster - Site Admin

Last summer some goths went bowling and they invited me to attend. I brought the video camera along. Here is a clip of the result. See the upcoming film GOTH:insideOUT for more.

Happy New Year – 2012

January 19, 2012 in Uncategorized by Herman Munster - Site Admin

So, if the world doesn’t end this year, we will continue work on the film! Maybe we’ll get it finished, if we are lucky. Though, I do see this as an ongoing project, where I may add new content when it happens. Anyway, have a good 2012 everyone! It’s sure to be a wild ride!

Investment opportunity in this film

August 3, 2011 in Uncategorized by Herman Munster - Site Admin

I’m looking for a producer and/or prodco who can assist with the post, marketing, and distribution of this film for a financial return.

I have edited a 2 hour assembly/rough cut of the film. Currently, I am seeking the funds to hire an editor and animator (or offer them a deferral deal), as I have very exciting plans on where I want to take this film, and require specific skills to realize my vision.

So, if you’d like to invest in an indie documentary that is very marketable world-wide, to a broad demographic, feel free to get in touch with me to discuss the opportunity further.

Why I am making this film and how you can help

February 24, 2011 in Uncategorized by Herman Munster - Site Admin

Since the 1980′s I’ve loved many aspects of the Goth scene – the music, the fashions, the art and the people. But, Goths have been very much misunderstood and demonized in popular culture, especially since the Columbine Massacre.

I’m making a film to counter all of the negative stereotypes and show that Goths are good people and mostly happy people who contribute to the world in positive way, have jobs, families, and lives. Goth is not just a fad, as it has passed the torch onto several generations now and has no sign of stopping. Help me get this film made and show the world that Goths are not evil people who shoot up schools, but we are a wonderful, lovely and lovable, peaceful creative bunch!

The project is a feature-length documentary (Gothumenatry) film on the Goth subculture world-wide (if I can get the funding to travel, otherwise it will only contain the footage I have now). Filming has already been done to in Toronto, Montreal and via video contributions from Goths in parts of the USA.

The film features interviews with (these interviews have been shot):

Edward Ka-Spel of the Legendary Pink Dots, Baron Marcus of the Vampire Beach Babes, Nancy Kilpatrick author of The Goth Bible, Lance Goth (the past owner of Sanctuary Vampire Sex Bar, The Catacombs, The Vatikan), The Westborough Baptist Church, Noah Korda from Bats Day in the Fun Park (audio only), Michael Ratt (of The Dark Place Gothic Society, healer and musician), Nik Beat (poet, musician, broadcaster), Stella Sanders the designer of S.I.N.S. Gothic Punk Fashions, Mitch Kroll (Beyond the Gates of Hell radio show, the band Masochistic Religion), members of the Goth scene world-wide, the band Freakency, Cad Gold Jr., photographer Hugues LeBlanc, DJ Todd (ex-Sanctuary Vampire Sex Bar DJ and Internet broadcaster with synthetic.org), Jo Kuczynska of Fluffer Designs, Veronique Chevalier AKA The “Weird Val” of Cabaret, author Liz Worth (“Treat Me Like Dirt”), and lots more!

I have plans for extended DVDs that will feature full interviews with interesting people that had to be cut for the film, musical performances and neat things like graveyard tours that I have on video!

Also, I have plans to release the uncut, full interviews and footage from the film. These many hours of footage will be available to subscribers.

I need funding to get this film made properly and I need your help.

This round of funding is going towards fine cut editing (hiring an editor and post production costs) and some additional travel for interviews/footage that is very important to the film. I’ve cut some promo clips and done a rough assembly edit, but there is a long way to go yet with the editing.  I also need some archival footage and photos, so there are costs for those.

I need to take a trip and film some interviews with Goths in the UK, Japan – where the movement is big, and in Germany where Goth is huge now as well. I need a decent amount of this money before next May, as there is a major Goth festival in Germany (Wave-Gotik-Treffen) that would be crucial footage and interviews to have in the film. Then, there is the M’era Luna festival in August that I would like to cover as well. I think I will meet many Goths from all over Europe at these festivals, so travel to these festivals will be great for the film! Then, there is Bats Day in California in May as well.

If I don’t get the additional funding, then I won’t be able to make the film on the scale of Goth world-wide and that would be a shame, as there are so many amazing things going on with the Goth scene outside of North America.

If you care about the Goth scene and what the world thinks of Goths, then help me get this film made and show the world the REAL story of who Goths are and what they are really about.

Goth is not easy to define, but it’s clear that they are not evil people who shoot up schools…now we just have to get the world at large to see this!

I am now taking donations/pre-sales for the film (anyone who donates can have their name listed on the Website, so be sure to let me know if you want your name listed).

Rewards are as follows:

  • Anything from $1 to $5. The satisfaction of knowing that you contributed to a better understanding of what it means to be a Goth in today’s world.

Ask your parents to buy you a donation for X-mas! This is going to be a really fun film to watch for anyone who is into the Goth scene – and educational for those who don’t know who Goths really are.
